Holiday Travel Gadgets

Watch the Video Segment!

Whether you’re facing delays at the airport or a long road trip in the car this holiday season, you’re bound to want – or need – some entertainment. I’ve got some of the best holiday travel gadgets.
During our holiday travels, whether we’re catching a plane or riding in the car with our family, it’s nice to have something to entertain us or keep our kids busy. Anything that keeps the kids from asking “Are we there yet?” every five minutes.

One product works great in the airport, on a plane or in the car. This Audiovox Portable DVD Player Pack plays DVDs, CDs and is compatible with mp3 players. It comes with two sets of headphones, so kids can share when they’re sitting next to each other. The rechargeable battery lasts about three hours, so you can definitely make it through an entire movie.

Unlike the DVD system I talked about last week, that is custom installed in your car. This is portable, and comes with rechargeable battery and a plug so you can actually take this inside grandma’s house and plug it into an outlet for use indoors or I have seen a lot of kids who now take these when they are waiting in airports and what not.

This next product is great if you’re a fan of satellite radio. The DEI SL10PK1 stores up to 10 hours of live SIRIUS Satellite Radio programming so you can record your favorite music for free and with no commercials. If you already pay for satellite radio, this is a great addition because you don’t have to pay to download more music for an mp3 player. In addition to music, you can also record NFL and NBA games, NASCAR and news broadcasts.

This is pretty much THE COOLEST thing ever! Slingbox allows my Tivo (or DVR) to talk to my phone. Now I have complete control of the Tivo from anywhere. It is exactly like I am setting on my couch. I can watch any live channel that I get on my Dish/Cable, watch any of my recorded shows, even schedule recordings from my phone when I leave the house and forget to set the Tivo. I can also watch Slingbox on my laptop or my desktop computer at work.

Also want remind people about the Mobile Mom Makeover contest where you can win a total mom mobile makeover for your car. The selected mom will appear in studio on a December segment of GMT. Go to Hawkelectronics.com and click on the Mobile Mom contest on the home page and nominate your favorite mom. We’re accepting entries until November 23.
